A new business recently started here in the community that combines passion, service and giving and you are definitely going to want to put this one at the top of your list for holiday gift giving.
Brightwood Candle Company makes beautiful, hand-crafted, non-toxic candles and uses candles to raise awareness and contribute to an important cause. Beth Demirjian who lives here in San Elijo Hills left the corporate world in 2016 and began working as a CASA volunteer at Voices for Children. CASAs are Court Appointed Special Advocates that act as fact finders for judges and ensure a foster child’s needs are being met. A CASA works with one case child at a time and dedicates 10-12 hours per month for 18 months.
“It has been life changing for me and just the most beautiful journey. My daughter and I were both adopted and so foster children have always had a special place in my heart. After seeing the positive impact that CASAs have on our foster youth, I decided I really wanted to do something to help increase awareness and recruit more CASA’s,” Beth shared.
Beth has been working with essential oils for years and loves candles, but she always had a tough time finding non-toxic options. After leaving the corporate world, she wanted to start her own business and after being a CASA, she realized there might be a way to combine all of those passions together, which is how Brightwood Candles was born.
Each candle is hand poured in Beth’s studio and they are all natural with lead free wicks, 100% soy wax and phthalate free fragrance and pure essential oils. Beth has spent the last year blending and mixing scents and now offers ten scents on both her Etsy shop and website.
She is getting a fantastic response. The packaging is beautiful and the candles are amazing. You will want to fill your house with these candles and they will make fantastic holiday, teacher and hostess gifts this season. The Pumpkin Harvest candle has been a best seller and she also has several other holiday scents like Christmas Tree, Apple Crisp, and Spiced Pomegranate cider.
San Elijo Hills residents can order candles on her website and receive free local delivery. Each candle comes gift-wrapped. It doesn’t get much easier than that. Plus, 15% of your purchase goes to benefit Voices for Children. For more information on Voices for Children, visit http://www.speakupnow.org.
