2014 marks the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos’ 35th year in the San Marcos community. Since 1979, the Club has impacted the lives of thousands of youth by providing a safe and affordable programs and services for the youth of our community.
Last month, over 200 guests gathered together at the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos to celebrate and reflect on the past, present and great future. From a small trailer and a few dozen youth members, to now, a 16,000 sq. ft. facility, five school site locations, one low income apartment complex and over 2,800 youth members, the Club continues to give young people hope and opportunity, preparing them for a great future. The generosity of Club supporters, annual and event sponsors and local donations make a powerful impact on the Club’s youth members, their families and the community. Through the years, the Club has stayed true to its mission to “inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as responsible, caring citizens”.
Recently, the Club announced a change in leadership. After 12 years as the Chief Executive Officer, Shelly Anguiano Figueroa has taken an opportunity to work with Boys & Girls Clubs of America. A search committee has selected Tish Murry as the Club’s new Chief Executive Officer.
