The 2014 San Marcos Youth Baseball (SMYB) North Pinto 7U All-Stars a.k.a Dynasty won the Pony League West Zone Regional Championship on July 6, knocking out 10 other teams from around San Diego County.
The final game was quite a battle against the San Marcos Knights South 7U All-Star team with a final score of 14-13. The San Marcos South team did exceptionally well in the tournament defeating the competition with the exception of their North counterparts. In fact, both teams represented our city in the Pony League World Series hosted by San Marcos at Mission Sports Park July 17-22 and the San Marcos Knights ended up winning the championship! (Try-outs have been held for the Fall Stallion season and the Dynasty roster will include boys from both teams!)
It is no accident that this team does so well. These little guys work hard and have a lot of fun, but the real magic comes from the coaching staff. This is the second year Manager Kyle Jenkin’s team has won the Pony League Regionals. They won last year as a 6U Shetland T-ball team. It is a family affair for Manager Kyle Jenkins. His wife Jessica and his father Greg Jenkins also coach the team along with Harry Grove, another very dedicated parent. The Jenkins’ son, Jaxson, plays on the team as well as their nephew Wyatt Skeens. The Jenkins’ coached three teams this past Spring and now the All-Star team and they somehow find the time and energy to play in an Adult league!
Now THAT is dedication and true love of the game and something worth SHARING! Please take a moment this week to thank your coaches for what they do both on and off the field to support San Marcos Youth Baseball.
