October 11, Sunday, 8:30AM

Horse Heritage Festival Celebrates Rural Roots on Sunday, October 11. Mark your calendars for a funfilled family event day at Walnut Grove Park here in San Marcos. Twin Oaks Valley Equestrian Association and the San Marcos Historical Society present the Horse Heritage Festival and the 9th Annual Poker Ride & Stride.
Saddle up your horse, leash up your pooch, or lace up your sneakers for a ride or a hike. Help the horse park by entering the 3 mile “Ride & Stride”. The route takes you along Twin Oaks Valley’s quiet and horsefriendly trail system. Checkin at 8:30AM, start time 9AM. Proceeds from the Poker Ride improve the public horse show grounds at Walnut Grove Park.

Following the “Ride & Stride”, family fun activities abound from 103PM. Join in on pony rides, petting corral, frontier games, horsemanship demonstrations, Heritage Park activities and museum, pumpkin patch, crafts, food, music and much more!

This event is a collaboration of efforts from the local clubs, organizations, and businesses which have a presence in our Twin Oaks Valley, including TERI Therapeutic Riding, FFA, 4H, V Spurs, Friends of San Marcos Parks & Rec and more.

The Horse Heritage Festival promotes the rich cultural history of San Marcos and the importance of preserving a rural and equestrian presence within the community. Bring your family and friends to this festive event!
