Sunday, June 7, 2015 Enjoy Sensational Sundays on the first Sunday of the month now through November. There is something for everyone. A variety of local artists showcase their talents and car buffs showcase their exotic cars. Meanwhile, you can grab some fantastic local produce at the farmers market and choose from a number of options for eating. Parks & Recreation Master Plan Update
The City of San Marcos is currently updating the Parks and Recreation Master Plan, which will help create a vision for the future of our community. Your input is needed to help guide the process. If you would like to contribute to this effort, please attend the upcoming Public Workshop on Tuesday, June 23 from 67PM at the San Marcos Community Center, 3 Civic Center Drive, San Marcos, 92069.
Fun Friday Nites!
Need a night out? Mark your calendar for the upcoming Fun Friday Nites. Children ages 4 to 12 years old enjoy a night of games, crafts, pizza and movies with friends in a program that is supervised by trained recreation leaders. Fun Friday Nites are held from 6 to 10PM at both the San Marcos Community Center and the San Elijo Recreation Center on the dates below.

Hike San Dieguito River Park/Santa Fe Valley
Take an easytomoderate hike southwest along the San Dieguito River on Saturday, June 6 starting at 8PM (signin at 7:30AM). There is a 3 or 5mile hike with an elevation gain of 350′. The group will meet up at Del Dios Highway. Turn south at Lemon Twist Fruit Stand just east of Calle Ambiente. For more details, visit www.sanmarcos.net.
Head out to Jack’s Pond Park (Nature Center) on Saturday, June 27 from 1011AM for Insects Day. Susan Nowicke will teach you about bug safety, beneficial vs. harmful bugs, pesticide use and the responsibilities of owning insects as pets. Jack’s Pond Park (Nature Center) is located at 986 La Moree Road. The cost is $3 or FREE to members of Friends of San Marcos Parks & Rec.
“This Is My Country” 4th of July Fireworks Celebration
Celebrate the 4th of July on Saturday, July 4 at Bradley Park in San Marcos with all your neighbors. Entertainment begins at 6PM featuring The Polyester Express. Fireworks are at 9PM. Bring chairs or blankets for lawn seating. There will be carnival games, jumpers and food sales available onsite. It’s free to attend and is funded entirely by donations from the businesses and citizens of San Marcos. To contribute, please send your tax deductible donations to:

Ray of Sunshine Fundraiser
Ray of Sunshine Equestrian Therapy is hosting their 1st Annual Fundraiser on Friday, June 19 from 79PM in the Williams Barn at Walnut Grove Park. Tickets are only $25 ($30 at the door) and includes Silent Auction, Hosted Bar & Dinner. Live music will be provided by Grand Canyon Sundown and all proceeds go to their programs designed to help families and individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer. Fortissimo Orchestra to Perform
Don’t miss the chance to see the Fortissimo Orchestra in action this month at Old Cal Coffee. They will be performing on June 13 at 5:30PM. The Fortissimo Orchestra Music Program is an afterschool program that began with 3rd grade students in January 2015 at Joli Ann Leichtag Elementary School. A project of Kid’s College and San Marcos Unified School District, these students receive intensive string music experience and the results are amazing. Several organizations have helped support this program, including the San Marcos Arts Council. Come see why everyone is so excited about the transformative program. Poolside CPR Program Returns

Art Classes with Oceanside Museum of Art’s Education Department
The Education Department at Oceanside Museum of Art is offering a variety of classes for adults this spring and summer season.
Palate to Palette
Enjoy the duo of wine and art on June 18, and August 8 from 69PM. Join OMA for its special Palate to Palette courses led by local art legend Margaret Chiaro. During this intimate and engaging class, participants will recreate famous works of arts step-by-step with the instructor. This class is designed for the art novice with no experience necessary. All supplies and the first glass are provided.
New! For Moms and Toddlers
OMA invites families with kids under 5yearsold to enjoy the Museum before it opens on Wednesday June 3, July 1 and August 5 from 910:30AM. Parents and children in strollers will enjoy a docent tour, and an age appropriate art project in OMA’s Studio O of the Van Hunnick Education Center. Children will create their own masterpiece with instructor Corinna Blocker while moms are invited to enjoy a cup of coffee and light pastries.
Visit OMA on June 27, 1:303:30PM to create handmade journals and decorative covers with artist Liz Sutton. Attendees will create their own accordion or bound books to take home and use. Along with these classes offered available on a regular basis.
