Now, here’s a great story. Two sorority sisters meet at San Diego State University. They become roommates and lifelong college buddies. But, that is only where the story begins.
Kristine Stearns and Irene Navarro went their own separate ways after college. Kristine moved to the Bay Area and got into the travel & hotel industry. Irene stayed in San Diego working with a talent agency in the entertainment business. They each had their own lives, got married and started their families.
Kristine found herself back in the San Diego area and moved to San Elijo Hills with her husband and two sons (now 15 and 11). In 2009, she decided to go back to school. She had always had a talent for design and Palomar College was offering a design program. This would be her chance to redesign her career and get out of the travel industry.
Meanwhile, Irene moved to Old Creek Ranch where she now lives with her son who is 11 (just like Kristine’s youngest). Irene, too, was wanting a change in her life. She was tired of the entertainment industry, driving to L.A. and everything that went with it.
During this time – Kristine & Irene had lost touch with each other. Not realizing that they lived within miles of each other or that they had sons the same age. Until that fateful day, when Kristine and Irene walked into their first class at the Palomar College Design Program.
You can imagine the surprise. What are the odds that your college roommate would be in the same class as you, years later – pursuing the same dream of changing careers to become a professional interior designer?
Kristine and Irene instantly reconnected and today, they are partners at Stearns Navarro Interiors. They started their own firm in 2013 and since that time have done a wide variety of projects for clients from Palm Springs to Rancho Santa Fe, Carmel Mountain, Santaluz and San Elijo Hills. They are incredibly talented and have developed a fantastic reputation for everything from choosing paint for a room to full home remodels.
Kristine & Irene each have their own style and together, they love helping families, couples and other individuals create the perfect style for their home. It has been the perfect partnership and clearly, Kristine & Irene were meant to be working together. Fate made sure of that by bringing them back together.
You can find their work on Houzz, Instagram and Facebook. And this spring, whether you are daydreaming about a new look for your master bedroom or making a shift from Tuscan to Coastal throughout your home, these two can help you bring that project to life.
