We are excited to SHARE the story of this amazing group of San Marcos girls. Their coach, Janet Parise, contacted us because she has so inspired by these young women who have worked so had and done so well this year.
The girls play for the G98 San Marcos Matrix team. As Coach Parise shared, “The girls on the team are from all walks of life and represent the unique dynamic of the San Marcos community. Although they are all very different, the team has come together and plays as one cohesive unit. As a coach, I have been fortunate to have a group of hard working, dedicated and determined players. I have been proud of the way the girls support and push each other on and off the field.”
G98 is made up of 6 juniors, 6 sophomores and 4 freshman. The girls attend San Marcos and Mission Hills High Schools. They entered 9 tournaments this summer and had 4 championship medals and 4 finalists medals. Their success has come from the camaraderie of the players and their willingness to train hard.
Not only are these gals champions on the field, they are perhaps even more strong off the field. One of the team members, Alexxa Lowery was recently diagnosed with Osteosarcoma – a type of bone cancer in her knee and femur. She is currently receiving chemotherapy and will need surgery to remove the cancer, after which time, she will have to face another round of chemotherapy. The treatment will take 5-6 months, but they are confident that it will be successful.
To support this valuable player on the team, G98 Matrix is coming together to host two fundraisers to help earn money for Alexxa Lowery’s medical treatment and they would LOVE to have your support.
