White Elephant Auction Raises Money for Scholarships
The holiday spirit was still evident at the San Elijo Hills Women’s Club’s January meeting and auction. Prior to the evening, members and guests had carefully selected items from their treasure troves for re-gifting. These items then assumed center stage during a fun-filled auction led by SEHWC Board members, Kathy Linenberger and Cherie Arendse who generated energy and enthusiasm as attendees good-naturedly tried to outbid each other for colorful jewelry and scarves, holiday items, and home decor, all with the goal of generating monies for SEHWC’s scholarship fund. The $600 raised during the evening will benefit a San Marcos High School graduating senior who has demonstrated a spirit of volunteerism during her high school years and who plans to further her education in the fall of 2017.

Make a New Year’s Resolution to Join SEHWC
The second month of 2017 has just begun. Perhaps you have made a New Year’s resolution to become more involved in your community. If so, the SEHWC is a perfect, close-to-home opportunity for your involvement. The mission of San Elijo Hills Women’s Club is Women Helping Others and the club has many exciting philanthropic and social activities planned for the year ahead.
The February 7 meeting is the club’s annual Straight from the Heart (SFTH) baby shower. Members and their guests are asked to bring to the shower new, unwrapped baby items such as clothing and blankets (sizes preemie to 24 months), as well as interactive, developmental toys that stimulate infants through lights, sounds, and music. These donated items will then be provided by Straight from the Heart to foster parents who are bringing babies into their homes for the first time. During the meeting, Patty Boles, SFTH director, will also share touching and heartwarming stories of the organization’s work with foster children and their families. Come and be inspired by these expressions of dedication, courage, and resilience.
If you would like to attend an upcoming meeting, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and you will receive an emailed invitation with specific information regarding that meeting.
