Stir Up Some Magic this Month
The SHEs of SEH, San Elijo’s most popular Facebook group, has joined forces with Cafe Stoked in setting up an “Angel Tree” this holiday season and everyone is invited to participate.
As Melinda Staab, founder of the SHEs shared, “This is an initiative that I have been involved with for years, and I love the local impact that it has and the pure joy that it brings to local kids in need. Each year, the Salvation Army collects names, ages and details of children across the country in an effort to give every child the joy of waking up Christmas morning with a present under the tree (and that’s assuming they have a tree), regardless of their family’s financial situation. Most trees are put up in offices for employees to participate, but I know the impact our community can have together to help children in San Marcos and Escondido feel the joy this season, so I wanted to bring this program to our own backyard.”
Melinda worked with the Salvation Army to provide 100 Angels and then Chris Vulovic at Cafe Stoked offered to house the tree as well as to help facilitate the process for those participating. All you have to do is stop by Cafe Stoked. Look for the tree and choose an Angel. Each Angel has the name and age of one child, so feel free to choose as many as you can. Maybe one for each member of your family. Then head to Cafe Stoked’s counter to complete the sign-up sheet and receive your child’s full information and wish list. Once you’ve shopped for your little angel, bring the gifts in, unwrapped, with the angel attached so it can be stored for pickup by the Salvation Army.
In conjunction with the Salvation Army gift giving, we have some local San Elijo families that need our help this year, too. Because a few of the kids attend San Elijo Elementary we are keeping their names anonymous. You will see Red Stockings on the Angel tree that are for some of our local children as well.
Bring your whole family down to Cafe Stoked and choose your Angels/Stockings. Then, get out and have some fun shopping for children who will forever remember your generosity and the impact you had on their lives this year.
