What happens when an actor and Hollywood stunt man winds down his career working with celebrities like DeNiro and world-renowned directors like Scorsese? Well, he moves to San Elijo Hills and becomes a meditation instructor, of course!
Our neighbor Konrad Sheehan has appeared in a number of films throughout his career, including “The Warriors” – a cult film that has had a recent resurgence after the release of the video game. But, you’d find his stunt man skills hard to believe when you sit down with him over coffee as he is one of the most gentle and positive spirits you will encounter.
Konrad recently published a book titled The Tao of Mindful Being. Modeled after the Tao Te Ching and it’s 81 precepts, this book provides a collection of thoughts to inspire those who want to live more mindfully in every moment. It’s a fantastic way to begin your new year. Grab a copy and keep it on hand – whether you read a page before you go to sleep, upon waking or before meditation, The Tao of Mindful Being will help draw you into the current moment.
Konrad is currently a student of Thich Nhat Hanh in the Plum Village Tradition; and a member of the Compassionate Heart Sangha in Encinitas, California. He regularly shares meditation with the inmates at California’s R.J Donovan State Correctional Facility.
