Having a roof over our heads, it’s part of the American-dream. And, if you’re fortunate enough to have one, chances are, it’s fairly low on the priority list for home maintenance. Where the roof is concerned, we tend to assume ‘we’re covered.’ And when it comes to urgencies with upkeep and repair needs in and around our homes, it’s always the ‘squeaky wheel gets the grease.’ Am I right?
It usually takes that rare occurrence of an unforeseen leak or a month of sweltering summer heat to cause our attention to focus on the condition of the roof or the ventilation capabilities over our heads. Well, this summer definitely fits the bill, which makes it a perfect time to get to know our friends at Urbach Roofing.
Roger Urbach, President and CEO of Urbach Roofing, was raised in a small town in Nebraska until he came to San Diego in 1979. He was raised with the belief that hard work and a solid work ethic are of key importance to success in work and life and he takes these core values and beliefs into his daily life at Urbach Roofing. Implementing proper training, licensing and insurance allow him to serve his customers to the best of his ability. “We do what we say we are going to do,” Roger shared. And, we know this integrity is at the heart of why Urbach Roofing has remained successful in San Diego County since 1979.
Did you know that the condition of our roof determines the temperature that we maintain in our homes? Yet, how often do we check its condition?
“The roofing system, attic ventilation and insulation all work together to keep your home and businesses comfortable, while lowering heating and cooling costs,” Roger explains. He adds that most owners don’t get up to look at their roofs, and therefore wouldn’t have the knowledge to assess its condition or life expectancy. “Being proactive with periodic inspections and keeping up on roof maintenance can help avoid costly emergency repairs during the rainy season and allow the roof to last well past the design life expectancy of the roofing system.”
As with everything else in our lives, being proactive with periodic inspections will prolong the life expectancy of that which is important – and there really isn’t much more important than the roof over our heads.
Of course there are financial benefits, too, beyond the savings you will enjoy in heating and cooling your home. A motivating perk is that updating the appearance of your home or business can be an essential way to improve property value by a substantial amount.
“Recently, we re-roofed an older home in La Jolla. The customer complaint was that the home was looking very dated. We opted to utilize a light-weight clay tile, boosting some of the existing tile, to simulate a mortared, two-piece tile roof. This roofing solution was cost effective and visually appealing to our customer. The home had been appraised one year before the roofing project. An appraisal, by the same company, afterwards valued the home at $500,000 higher after the remodel.” (See attachment photos).
Of course, having access to a roofing company with experience and a strong work ethic are important. Urbach Roofing employees keep customer needs and interests at the forefront of every project – from the first phone call to the final clean up stages of a project, including the continued warranty service of the roof.
“In addition to requiring quality work from our employees we also require continued education for our employees, in an industry that is constantly changing,” Roger added. “Customers should expect and receive timely service as well as common sense solutions for their roofing needs. We have an experienced and well-trained team of service technicians that continually provide cost-effective solutions when roof restoration is needed. We do our best to help assure the best possible life-expectancy for our customer’s roofs.”
