By Brett Gottlieb, President, San Elijo Hills Foundation
There is a lot going on in our community lately, especially with the San Elijo Hills Foundation. We wanted to take a few moments this month to share some updates around several of the projects our board committees have been working on. There are a lot of people in our community who are stepping up to make things happen.
PACE – San Elijo Safe Streets Committee
Under co-chair direction from Amy Falco & Andrea Nanigian, our community is becoming safer each day. These two have effectively worked with the City to continually focus on ways to keep our community members safe by helping with the electronic speed signs installed coming into the town center, establishing the PACE car pledge, and more recently working with the Fire Department to create some type of emergency communication plan guideline that can be disseminated to the community. Stay tuned for more information from this great team. Also join their Facebook group to get involved: PACE – San Elijo Safe Streets
The Allstate Foundation Helping Hands Grant
Thanks to board Treasurer Angela Ayers who submitted a grant proposal for the foundation telling our story and how we help the community to have a collective voice and enhance quality of life. Her effort to go the extra step helped us obtain a $1,000 grant that will be used to continue our efforts around the community.
SEMS Basketball Court Update
In May, we announced to the community that by collaborating with SEMS and the City Parks and Recreation Department, we were able to get access for the community to the SEMS Basketball courts. The community can use the courts all summer long from 10AM until 8PM, Monday through Friday. On the weekends, they are open from 11AM to 7PM.
If you haven’t had a chance to go play on these courts, please check them out as the school district just updated the seal coating and they look great and are ready for some games.
Save the Date for the Turkey Classic
Our Annual Community Golf event is back. Be sure to save the date, Saturday November 26 for our 14th Annual Turkey Classic. This year should be even better than last year. We are expecting a full field of players, some fantastic prizes and a few fun new course games and package additions. We are also looking for donations for our silent auction. If you have suggestions, or would like to participate, please let us know.
Get a New Travel Blanket
Help support your community and stay warm at our next Movie Night with your very own SEH Foundation lightweight fleece roll up blanket. The blankets will sell for $20 and come in 4 different colors.
